Default Mixing professions from campaigns

I currently only own Prophecies+EoTN, but I just ordered the other two campaigns.

I see from the forums that you can mix campaign professions. can you do this from the start, or do you need to get to a high level, get ascended, in other to learn the new professions.
In Prophecies pre, you only get trainers for the other Prophecies professions, so how would you make a N/Rt for example? Do you pick Necro in the creation screen but have him start in Factions? how about a Derv/A?

Maybe it'll actually become clear when I get the other two campaign.s

if you start a character in nightfall, youll have the option of choosing a dervish or paragon secondary from the beginning.

if you start in factions, youll have the option of ritualist or assassin secondary from the beginning.

once you reach a certain point in each campaign you can change your secondary at will, in proph you do quests to unlock the secondaries (i think), in factions and nightfall you "buy" them for 200g.

to get to a factions specific profession from nightfall (or vice versa), you "travel" to the other campaign via a quest. once reach you reach the point of ascension in that campaign youll be able to switch to the campaign specific professions.

Its 500g, not 200 and they are one time fees. You're Proph char will have to go through Ascension to change secondaries and then visit the profession changer in the PvP Isles to unlock the ones from other campaigns.

You can also change at the Great Temple of Balth on the PvP Isles .

Can I or can I not make a Necro/Rit in the "early game"? level 5 qualifies as early game, lvl 20, and having to be ascended or some equivalent doesn't.
a better example would be Dervish/Assassin which has a primary from Nightfall and a secondary from Factions.

I think I gleaned the answer as no from this thread, at least to the D/A

If Necro is considered "core" then maybe N/Rt is actually possible for a character starting in Faction?

You can't make a N/Rt early in the game in Nightfall or Prophecies as Ritualist isn't part of that campaign. Same for other professions/campaigns. You can't get seondary Rt/A/P/D in Prophecies at all without visiting the Great Temple of Balthazar (providing you have the other campaigns)

You're right that you'll be able to make a N/Rt if you start in factions. For a D/A you'll need to start in Nightfall and then change your secondary profession after you Ascend which will proabably after getting lvl 20.

I just figured this out yesterday...

Get yourself ASCENDED (or the equivelant of ascented in the "Chapter" that you STARTED the TOON in)...then head to the Great Temple of Belthazar and have 500 god with you. Pick the profession that you want as a secondary and BOOM..you are what you are.

Easy Peasy and no stupid quests to do.

hopefully I can clear some things up a bit. Sorry about the novel.

First:

Warrior, Monk, Necro, Mesmer, Elementalist, Ranger- Prophicies/Core Professions

Assassin, Ritualist- Factions Professions

Dervish, Paragon- Nightfall Professions

As has been stated you only have access to professions of campaigns you have on your account. This means without Factions you can never have an assassin secondary. I assume you already know this.

Core Classes are availble to any character started in any campaign. You can always choose one of these as a secondary from the start.

Factions and Nightfall specific classes are only availble as starting secondaries in their respective campaigns. This means you could have an A/Rt (Factions) or D/P (Nightfall) straight away depending on where you start. But you could not have a D/A right out of the gate.

As others have stated you need to do some quests in Prophicies to unlock the other professions. In Factions you need to become the equivalent of Ascended (Weh No Su) and then talk to Senji in Senji's Corner. He'll charge you a one time fee of 500 gold to change your secondary.

In Nightfall You need to complete the quest "Building the Base: Prisoners of War" This will let you talk to Zuwarah in the command post. Again he'll charge you 500 gold.

Once you reach a certain point in all the campagins you will beable to complete a quest in order to unlock travel to other continents. Once you complete these quests and find the profession changer in the campaign you've just unlocked you'll be able to change your secondary to any profession available in that campaign.

As someone has mentioned a MUCH easier way to do this is to get yourself Ascended. This means completeing the Asencsion trials in Prophecies. Becoming Weh no Su in Factions. Or, completeing the quest "Hunted!" in Nightfall. Once you do this travel the the Great Temple of Balthazaar. There will be a profession changer in the Temple that will let you change your secondary to any of the classes you have available on your account.

So for example you want a D/A. You need to start in Nightfall as that is the only place to get a Dervish primary. You'll then need to play until you complete Hunted! and then travel to the Great Temple of Balthazaar. Or you can continue playing in Nightfall until you can unlock travel to Cantha (factions) with your Dervish who then has to subsequently travel to Senji's Corner to talk with Senji.

Sure it does. Read through the article and it will tell you when, where and how you can get secondary professions and also when, where, and how you can change it.
